When you tell a child that its time to go to the doctor, their world begins to turn! They think about all of the other memoriable doctor office experiences that they had in the past.
My seven year old had to get a well check up yesterday. I didn’t tell her until the day before. I knew that if I had told her any earlier she would have lost her focus. It seems like in the past every time I told her she was not going to get a shot, she got one. So, I was told that she wouldn’t need another shot until she turned 11. So, she was going to the doctors on the inventions that “mommy said, I am not getting a shot but….”
She told everybody in her world that she had to get a check up within 24 hours. I didn’t have to tell her teacher, she done that for me. Anyways, we got to the doctors office and it appears that they no record of her last dose of immunizations. The doctor is speaking in code so she could not understand, Thank God! She made it out of the office without getting a shot on the fact that she started school 2 years ago and the shots they say don’t have on file, she wouldn’t have made into school without them. So, the only I need to do is get a copy of the shot record they have on file for her and give the doctor office a copy.
After all said and done, my seven year old talks so much; she had to tell her father everything that happened to her from the time I picked her up early from school until how she ended up on the couch talking to him. Wasn’t he in for a treat?
